To get into sportscasting, you need proven experience and a specialized set of skills just to step into the arena. Full Sail University’s Sportscasting bachelor’s degree, created in collaboration with Dan Patrick, is designed to support the next generation of talent through real-world productions and industry-influenced coursework. You’ll build a foundation in interviewing, voice work, writing, and content creation, with ongoing guidance from active professionals as you craft your reel. And you’ll get familiar with a range of media technologies — whether on-campus in our labs and soundstages, or online as you create digital content on the go.
Journalism & Multimedia Storytelling
Students will practice pitching, writing, and editing stories for media types ranging from broadcast to social media on a variety of sports topics, with an emphasis on professional workflow and tight deadlines. In addition to traditional newsgathering, students will learn the elements of effective storytelling as they apply to array of written and visual formats.
Voice Training & Live Presentation
Skill in vocal performance is crucial for any successful sports broadcaster and communicator. Students will learn how to recognize and develop vocal richness and authenticity, while exploring the philosophy of communicating with audiences.
Emerging Sports Media Technologies
Students will become familiar with production and media technologies as they relate to presentation, content creation, and audience engagement, discovering broadcast opportunities for new and progressive technologies such as gaming, virtual reality, and augmented reality.
